Leland Blue is a byproduct of the short-lived days of smelting by the Lake Superior Iron Company in Leland, Michigan between 1875 and 1900. The Upper Peninsula Mesabi Iron Ranges supplied the ore and high-grade charcoal made from beech and maple combined with local limestone flux reduced the iron ore to pig iron, creating a unique foundry glass that was often bright blue, purple, or green. Used to fortify the original pier in Leland, it now washes up on the shore as a modern-day treasure.

Pioneer Swirl, a rare form of Leland Blue, is iron smelting slag from the Pioneer Furnace which was located near Negaunee, in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Pioneer Swirl is actually 20 years or so older than traditional Leland Blue, and much rarer.

*Named after the Kona Hills south of Marquette County, Michigan where it is found, Kona Dolomite is an ancient rock in which formations of fossil stromatolite (blue-green algae) occur. The stone is between 2.1 to 2.2 billion years old. These stromatolite formations are from some of the first life on earth. These fossil formations are found in the lower eras of the Middle Precambrian Period.

Frankfort Green is a byproduct of the short-lived days of smelting by Frankfort Iron Works in Elberta, Michigan. The Upper Peninsula Mesabi Iron Ranges supplied the ore and high-grade charcoal made from beech and maple combined with local limestone flux reduced the iron ore to pig iron, creating a unique foundry glass. Smelting began in 1867 and ceased in 1883. the casting house, constructed of brick, is where the iron was produced and it is still standing today.

Petoskey Stone is a fossilized coral, the state stone of Michigan and is commonly found along the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron in the United States. It was formed by the fossilization of ancient coral, hexagonaria. These corals lived in warm shallow seas that covered Michigan during Devonian time, some 350 million years ago.
